Maldito Mendez
CASE STUDY
Maldito Mendez is a restaurant in Ponsonby Central that serve traditional South American streetfood. They also have a branded food truck that they take to a variety of events, festivals and concerts.
They came to us with a company name and the request that we create them a brand that was edgy and that evoked the rough, run down aspect of South American towns and villages.
In addition to a logo that would be used across a range of different media, we were asked to create business cards, stationary, menus and other printed collateral for their restaurant, a website and a full wrap for their mobile kitchen.
The content below shows the finished pieces of work, a brief description of the process and the costs involved;

LOGO
The logo of any business completely defines the look and feel of all future brand assets so it is essential that your logo is well thought out and communicates your brand values to your prospective clients.
After the initial meeting where we got an idea of what the client wanted and the look/direction they were going for, we created 4 mockup logos that the client critiqued and selected their favourite aspects from.
From their feedback we created the final logo paying particular attention to their desire for a rough, edgy look. The logo was created ready for print so it was immediately able to be used on all other forms of advertising.
Total cost (including 4 mockups) $500

BUSINESS CARDS
In many cases a business card is the only piece of your business that a client will take away with them from a meeting, and most clients are given a lot of business cards so it is important yours stands out from the rest. We pride ourselves on creating memorable, unique business cards for all our clients that ensure their business gets remembered.
The business card followed on from the logo design with the textured, cracked concrete walls. The fonts and brand colours had been established during the logo design so this process was very quick.
Total cost (including printing costs) $350
MOBILE KITCHEN
Company vehicles are usually the only opportunity small companies will have to get their brand out and about. As most company vehicles simply have a name and phone number put randomly somewhere, it makes it all the more important to have a vehicle that is well designed and embodies the company’s branding.
The whole vehicle was wrapped to ensure Maldito Mendez’s branding was as prominent as possible. We have a working realtionship with Brave Design who did a great job with printing and installation.
Total cost (excluding printing & installation) $1,500
PRINTED COLLATERAL
Like many businesses, Maldito Mendez required a range of printed assets from food menus to beer coasters to badges for their uniforms.
Our talented designers expertly made sure that everything we created was in keeping with Maldito Mendez’s brand to ensure a consistent brand experience from end to end.
Food & drink menus (excluding printing costs) $700

WEBSITE
The importance of having a strong online presence cannot be overstated and yet 1 in 3 NZ small businesses don’t even have a website! With the prevalence of Google, having an up to date website is a must have for any small business.
The Mendez site is a simply built site that contains the following pages: home, about us, image gallery, a blog based what’s on and contact us. For a small monthly fee we monitor the site and update content where applicable to ensure the site is always up to date. Click here to view.
Cost of web design and deployment (excluding yearly hosting & domain name) $950
Cost of content production including photography $500

TESTIMONIAL
“Leadfeathers did a fantastic job for us – from the concept logo to the total web design, and even handpainted sandwich boards, they listened to what we needed, understood the target market we cater to, and the results are what we were aiming for – fresh, memorable and eyecatching. Definately the design work has been a huge kickstart to our business. We feel the strength of our branding has made a huge difference, securing high profile events and clients within our first year of business (including selection for an episode of TV 1′s food truck).”
